In Part 2 of this Article, we will briefly discuss the Chromatic harmonica.  The English annotations do not correspond to the Chinese iteration of the Chromatica.

 

半音阶口琴是表达力最完整的独奏乐器之一。它的音阶组织一如钢琴，除普通音外，尚加入一般口琴所没有的半音阶，无论任何调子都能用一具半音阶口琴奏出，加上科技发展的进步，半音阶口琴的结构与材料不断改善，便更容易学习和运用吹奏。至于孔数则有8、10、12、14、16等多种，音域为二到四个八度，大部分为C调。

(The Chromatica is the one with the greatest versatility with the “1/2 notes” i.e. the sharps and flats that the Tremolo and Single Diatonic Harmonicas do not have.  Depending on the model, the octave-range of a Chromatica can span between two and four.  The current models of Chromatica are easy to use [some models are not suitable for Beginners.)

 

由于可以演奏音域内的所有半音，此类口琴适合演奏比较复杂的乐曲。以十二孔的半音阶口琴最为多用，一具十二孔的C调半音阶口琴具备有三组的八度和完全的半音，其排列是按音阶的顺序分每四个孔一组八度。半音阶口琴有的是胶制琴格，有的是木制琴格，各具特色。

Comments: I like harmonicas with wooden reeds, although they are difficult to maintain.

 

半音阶口琴的主要分为10孔40音、12孔48音、14孔56音、16孔64音半音阶口琴。

(For performances, the 12-Hole Chromatica is sufficient.]

 

这些是标准型号的半音阶口琴，单音簧发声，琴格每一孔都同时有吹吸四个音存在，除高音部的几个音外，每个簧片都盖有一个胶膜阀门（俗称胶片）用以防止漏气。常见初学者较难吹奏其低音部。半音阶口琴的音色纯正而圆浑厚实，尤其适合吹奏古典风格和旋律优美的乐曲，亦可以吹奏流行音乐。另有某些型号特别适合演奏出爵士（jazz）风格的音乐。半音阶口琴是比复音口琴更加严肃一些的乐器。完整的半音阶，最大可达四个八度以上的音域，使得诞生时间并不算长的半音阶口琴在正规乐器中占有一席之地。虽然不是传统交响乐团中的正式成员，但在许多口琴大师的努力下，半音阶口琴在室内乐等领域已有一定地位，国内外亦有以半音阶口琴为主音，由和弦、贝司口琴等组成的乐团活跃。
